Berseem honey with a mild, clean clover taste

Nativaa Berseem Honey comes from hives on our own bee farm, placed near fields where berseem is in flower. Berseem (Trifolium alexandrinum) is a winter fodder crop grown across northern India, and its small pale blossoms give this honey a [light colour and soft, clean sweetness]. The flavour belongs to the flower, and no one adds it later.

There is no trader, agent or outside supplier between the hive and the jar. The honey you open is what our bees made, filled into a 650 g glass jar at our farm.

Berseem honey vs berseem-infused honey

Some "clover" honeys are regular honey with clover flavour or extract stirred in. Nativaa Berseem Honey works the other way round: the bees visit berseem flowers and make the honey, and nothing is put in afterwards. Berseem flowers only for a few weeks, so this honey comes in limited batches.

How to use

• Mix a spoonful in lukewarm water with a squeeze of lemon

• Spread over parathas, rotis, toast or dosa

• Add to yoghurt, porridge or a bowl of cut fruit

• Use instead of sugar in lassi, kheer and home-baked cakes

• Take a plain spoonful, straight from the jar

Storage and Crystallisation

Close the lid tightly after every use and keep the jar at room temperature in a dry place, away from the sun. A clean, dry spoon keeps moisture out. Clover-type honeys often thicken or turn creamy with time, which is a natural change in texture and not spoilage. To soften it, keep the closed jar in a bowl of lukewarm water for a few minutes. Do not microwave it.
